The Department of Revenue (Department) is aware of a scam that sends texts or emails to taxpayers, residents, and employees. These messages:

• Ask the recipient to click a link or provide banking information
• Use international phone numbers
• Refer to refunds and laws that do not apply or exist
• Pressure the recipient with deadlines

The Department has posted a Current Topic on our website’s homepage, as well as information on their social media platforms, warning recipients not to reply to the message or click on any links.

• ·         The Department does not send text messages about refunds.
• ·         Do not reply or click links.
• ·         You can report scams to the Federal Trade Commission, the Florida Office of the Attorney General, or the Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services.
• ·         If you have been a victim of this or any other scam, contact your financial institution and your local sheriff’s office.
